Sunburn Relief

Ever have a day out in the sun and forget the sunscreen? Happened to me. Luckily for you (and me) I found a solution!

I went to a family BBQ on Sunday and came home looking like I had been BBQ'd myself. I had some "Afternoon Delight" aloe me body whip from Fortune Cookie Soap in the refrigerator where one of their customers had told me to keep it, in case of situations like this. I had my husband apply it to my back before bed for three nights. By Thursday the sunburn was nearly all the way gone and I hadn't felt any heat or pain from the burn. Consider me sold on this product!

So what is this miracle sun burn cure? According to the Fortune Cookie Soap, it is "An after sun whipped cream that pampers and nourishes your skin after a day in the sun. This summer formula infuses rich, ultra-moisturizing lotion with cooling aloe gel for beautifully smoothed and hydrated skin."

I definitely give this product 1,000 stars and a zillion thumbs up. This burn could've been such a horrible experience but I didn't go through any of the usual sunburn problems. No peeling. No pain. No hot to the touch skin. Seriously, why are you still reading this? Go buy some.

Click here to visit the Fortune Cookie Soap page and purchase your own! If you spend over $30 and it's your first purchase, using this link will give you $5 off your order.

**These thoughts are all my own and the product I reviewed was purchased with my own money.**

Birchbox July 2015 sneak peek

July Birchbox sneak peeks have been released!

First off, HOW CUTE is this months box?? I love the colorful tribal look.

Next, we know Birchbox is doing something a little different this month for the sample choice. Instead of picking an item, you are picking the color. Everyone will be getting a Stila stay all day liquid lipstick, and we get to choose between Bella (hot pink), Venezia (coral), and Beso (red). I personally will be picking Beso. I love a good red!

And of course, the featured box. It's themed "Beachy and Bright" and comes with a lot of summery items as seen in the photo below. It comes with a Stila lip color as well, but you can only get Bella.

So what are you thinking ladies? Will you choose the featured box, or what color Stila will you pick? I'm really excited for this months Birchbox. You are all beautiful cupcakes in a world of muffins.

Chocolate Bar dupe review

Profusion Glamour Bar
"Savor every bite of color"

For months now, I have been dieing to try the Two Faced chocolate bar eye palette, but like many of you...I cannot justify $50 for eye shadow. A wonderful woman named Sandra Rodriguez located this palette for me at a 5 Below store for $4.99. It comes with 15 eye shadows (mostly in a nude shimmer, with a couple blue and gray shades thrown in the mix), an eye liner, and eye shadow guide.

So how do I feel about it? First of all, it doesn't smell like chocolate like the original! I wish they had added a chocolate scent to the container, just for fun. The shadows honestly aren't fantastic either. They have a lot of fall out and the color has to be packed on to get a good color pay off. However, for the price, that makes the shadows 33 cents each so I can definitely deal with having to pack on the color a bit. I think I will use this palette again in the future even with the fall out issues and weak color. Below you will find a nude shadow look I wore using this palette and some swatches:

This palette comes in three colors...pink, tan, and brown. All three palettes are $4.99 and are available at K-Mart and 5 Below. Thank you for reading and please let me know what you think about this palette if you have tried it. You are all beautiful cupcakes in a world full of muffins.

Ultimate Straight//Influenster Review

I got my first ever Influenster box in the mail today, and was chosen to test Loreal Paris' new hair care line, "Ultimate Straight." Being that it was hair washing day anyways, I decided to give them a try. Below are the instructions straight off the bottles that I followed.

[Shampoo] Massage into wet hair, lather, and rise.
[Pre-Conditioner] Apply evenly through hair, leave on for one minute. DO NOT RINSE.
[Conditioner] Apply on top of pre-conditioner. Leave on for 1-3 minutes. Rinse.
[Perfecting Balm] Apply a dime size amount onto damp hair, spreading from root to tip.

I followed all the steps, fully expecting to have to wash my hair again because let's be honest...that's a lot of conditioning and my hair is very picky with products. I followed my usual routine, wrapped my hair up in a turbie towel and left it for an hour then applied the perfecting balm and dried and I was pretty surprised how straight my hair was. My hair is straight anyways, but with all my layers they kind of wave and flip out in every direction, but not today! I still had to run a flat iron over it on some parts, but my hair definitely was straighter post shower than normal.

I did a little research for you guys, and the four products in the sizes I received would cost you $19.88. It would probably be worth it if you have naturally unruly hair, but since my hair is pretty straight to begin with, I would not re-purchase these products. I feel the time I saved using my flat iron was spent using the 4 different hair products.

I hope you enjoyed reading my review on the "Ultimate Straight" products. Let me know your experiences with these products if you happen to try them out :)

**DISCLAIMER: I received these products complimentary from Avon for testing purposes, however you can trust that I have given my 100% honest opinion. -SC**

Fortune Cookie Soap//Tour the Store

**EDIT-Giveaway closed as of 6/30/15. Winners will be chosen and contacted within the next week. Thank you all for entering**

Fortune Cookie Soap, a bath and body company that started with humble beginnings, is now growing at a rate that is nearly impossible for owners Shannon and Justin to keep up with. I was able to speak to a long time friend and employee of the store, a woman that beams with sweet southern hospitality and pride for what Fortune Cookie Soap has become. "Fortune Cookie Soap started with Shannon and Justin in a studio apartment they did everything out of, "Meri-Sue Bachlor said with a smile. I was made aware the company operates out of a store and two warehouses, one of them being product production and the other shipping and soap boxes. "They have outgrown both and are trying to get into one huge warehouse that will do shipping, soap boxes, and production," adds Meri-Sue.

Fortune Cookie Soap has many ways for its customers to try their products, including a physical store, an online market place, and a seasonal subscription box. Their subscription box retails for $19.99 and includes sample sizes of numerous products and a $10 off box code, which can be used as the collection is released. When asked about the first ever soap box, Meri-Sue stated "The very first soap box made, Shannon made 200 and said "Do you think we can sell 200? I'm worried, I'm scared we won't sell 200." Most of the soap boxes are cleverly themed, however I was told the themes didn't start until about a year and a half ago. Recent popular themes include Second Star to the Right (Peter Pan), Blush and Bashful (Steel Magnolias), Nightmare Before Christmas, Butter Beer (Harry Potter)...and so many more!

Being able to visit the physical store and conduct this "tour the store" was such an amazing experience for me. When you walk in the door you are first greeted by the sweet aroma of all the products, followed by the smiles and pleasant greetings of the employees. The store is tucked away on Main street in Jenks, Oklahoma, but the well thought out set up of the store takes you to a whole new world of yummy, colorful Fortune Cookie Soap goodness. Every item is intricately placed in such a manner that reels you in with an attractive, modern store design. You will find items such as bath fizzys, body wash, bath salts, sugar scrubs, shampoo and conditioner bars, and of course their number one seller, whipped creams.

Although this company is sky rocketing in sales and is currently sold in 75 stores nationwide, Shannon and Justin make it a priority to give back to charitable organizations that touch their hearts. Plant It-2020, Bixby Community Outreach Center, Save the Ta Tas, the OCD foundation, and Autism Speaks are just a few known charities Fortune Cookie Soap have given to, not to mention that over half a metric ton of soap has been donated. Personally, I love that I am able to purchase handmade, cruelty free products from a company that is charitably minded.

During our time at the physical store, I was able to speak to two Fortune Cookie Soap employees named Abby and Kinsey. When asked what scent was the fan favorite of all time, they replied "In the Loop. It sold like 800 cookies in a year." In the Loop is a popular scent most likely because it is so easily identified as the "Fruit Loops" cereal, both by look and smell.

Although the bath and body products were wonderful, I think the real trophy of this company is it's delightful employees who have taken such an interest in their customers needs and concerns. Abby was kind enough to divulge some of her insider tips in tricks to my readers. "Always cut your bar soaps into pieces, they last so much longer," she said. I was also told about a couple multi-use products, such as conditioner bars that can be used to shave your legs and hydrate me's that can be used as perfume. My final question for the obliging employees was if we could get a sneak peek or hint at the fall collection. Kinsey said just one word, "Famous." Abby elaborated saying, "It's different from the movie themes we've been doing. Not as wacky, and not as much pumpkin. This box is way better than last years fall box."

[GIVEAWAY TIME] Share either this blog for a chance to win one of two Fortune Cookie Soap prize packs! Comment on this post only "shared" for a chance to win. Winner will be chosen June 30th. Both winners will be chosen at random and will be required to show proof they shared this blog (blog.Sammicupcake.com) to win. Good luck!
