FCS of the Month Club info

Hey fishies! Yesterday Fortune Cookie Soap released information on a long awaited subscription we have all been asking for. All information in this post is taken straight from the Winter 2016 launch video by Shannon. I am just typing it up in an easy to find format so you guys who may have missed the launch can be as well informed as the rest of us! :)

  • It is called FCS of the Month Club
  • It will contain full size products at 50% off.
  • It is a subscription.
  • It is not a theme so much as a category you would find on the website (Face, soap, etc.)
  • January will be the first one and it's category is "Face"
  • It is meant for you to be able to try products at a discount, and come back later and buy it if you like it.
  • You can skip a month, pause, or cancel yourself. You don't have to contact FCS to do it.
  • It will roll out in December, and ship January 10th.
  • Each box will have one new product, and if we like the new product it stays permanent.
  • January's face box will have a toner for it's new product.
  • The first month it will launch in small numbers in the VIP group.
Are you guys as excited as I am? Ahh! I can't wait. If you are not already, please subscribe so you can stay up to date and don't miss out on any great information like this!

Fortune Cookie Soap Alternative Uses 2.0

Hey Fortune Cookie Soap lovers! Among the FCS community a topic that is brought up often is unconventional/alternative uses for their products. In April I made my first alternative uses post, and I have been made aware of several other creative solutions so here it is, 2.0!

Tip #1:
Conditioner bars can be used as a "shave lotion" when you shave your legs.

Tip #2: Hydrate Me's can double as a lightly scented perfume.

Tip #3: Incense Cones and linen spray can be used remove tough smells from your vehicle.

Tip #4: Shampoo bars are amazing for cleaning makeup brushes!. (-Gabriella N.)
Tip #5: Bath tea's can be used in a foot bath to infuse your pedicures with essential oils, sea salt, and oatmeal if you are a shower girl. (-Katie B.)
Tip #6: Hair oil can be used as a makeup primer, but avoid your eyes! (-Flora S.)
Tip #7: Cuticle oil/butter can be used on any dry/rough spots such as elbows, feet, etc. (-Aisha Q.)

Tip #8: Facial cleansing oil can be used to clean dense foundation brushes. (-Megan F.)

Tip #9: You can break bath bombs into smaller pieces to use as mani/pedi bombs.. (-Aisha Q.)
Tip #10: Bath oil being used like shower oil, and bubble bath being used like body wash. Either could be used to shave. (-Brittany K.)
Tip #11: Wax tarts to scent drawers and closets like sachets. Mustache wax to tame eyebrows! (-Allyssa B.)
Tip #12: Wax tarts or just any wax tarts i heard get a little baby food jar take the wrapper off and poker lots of holes in the top and put a few pieces in it and then put it in a spot where it gets hot in your car and that way u have a car air freshener. (-Lisa T.)

Tip #13:  I use the ocd to make my bug bites stop itching! (-Allison A.)
Tip #14: I put perfume oil in my wax warmer as an alternative to wax tarts. (-April A.)

I hope you found these alternative uses helpful! -Sami Fish

Fortune Cookie Soap Winter Box 2016

Always Winter-OCD Hand Sanitizer (Evergreen fir needles, cinnamon, cranberries, apple cuts, and cedar wood)
Always Winter is reminiscent of "Oogie Boogie" from the Nightmare Before Christmas collection. It smells like Christmas, which I love. The only downside for me is the silver glitter which leaves a fair amount on your body when used-I could do without the glitter.

Father Christmas-Whipped Cream (Winter air, blue juniper bush, frosty snow, iced vanilla cupcakes)
This one reminds me a lot of a previous scent as well, maybe Tommy guns and baseball bats but a little more minty?

Sweeties-Fortune Cookie Soap (Rosewater, pistachios, amaretto, buttery cookies)
This smell is really confusing to my nose...it kind of smells like rosewater and gummy bears mixed?

Dream of a Dream-Dusting Powder (Lavender, vanilla, soft musk, patchouli) This scent is one I'm going to have to try in another product to make up my mind on it. The scent description sounds really good but I can't pick up on much from the dusting powder.

Lion's Breath-Perfume Oil (Winter frost, fir needles, pomegranates)
My favorite scent of the collection-It's a wintery pomegranate scent that could almost be unisex. I love it.

Hide and Seek-Whipped Soap (Dark chocolate, espresso beans, allspice, coconut cream)
I'm so excited to see whipped soap make a return! It is so light and fluffy, and the scent is a really nice blend of the dark chocolate, espresso, and coconut.

Deep Magic-Shampoo Bar (Rosemary, fresh garden herbs, mint)
Maybe it's because it's 85 in NOVEMBER but the shampoo bar this time showed up kind of slimy. I'm really happy Fortune Cookie Soap offered a minty shampoo though because I know a lot of Fortune Freaks have been asking for it.

Small Favors-Pedi Bomb (Warm honey, tobacco pipe, spiced citrus)
I want to try this product in other scents as well, if you know me at all, you know I love anything tobacco scented! It smells like a more spicy version of "Grandpa Joe." I LOVE!

If you subscribe to this box, comment and tell me which scent was your favorite! Lion's Breath (perfume oil) and Small Favors (pedi bomb) are my two favorites.

I'm unaware if this soap box is still available for purchase, you can check by clicking here.  If you aren't able to get the soap box or love the scents so much you want full size products, visit their Facebook page (CLICK HERE for a direct link) on Friday, November 11th at 6pm CST for the launch of this collection.

FCS "I put a spell on you" small box

Fortune Cookie Soap certainly did "put a spell on me" with this Hocus Pocus themed box! AHH! I love it. There were two sizes (and of course, I bought both. Hello...Hocus Pocus is my jam!) The one I'm showing you today is the small box.

"Good Zombie" aloe me body whip [White chocolate, candy apple, marshmallow cream, butterscotch] This one smells sort of like Tink to me with a punch of apple which I LOVE. The muted green color is to die for as well...pun intended.

"I Put A Smell On You"(PUNNY!) perfume oil [Cotton candy, sugar, dragons blood] This smells like a high end perfume you'd spend a lot of money on to be honest. I'm guessing dragons blood is the top note because it doesn't smell at all like a kid-scent you'd expect from cotton candy and sugar.

"Sistas" OCD hand sanitizer [Passion fruit, guava nectar, bubblegum] I'm not big on fruity smells but this is tame enough to be a crowd-pleaser. It's fruity and light and lacks the "punch in the face" a lot of fruit scents give you. I like it.

"Oh, booooook!" Fortune Cookie Soap[Bubblegum, black cherry] I get straight up cherry from this one but I like it!

"Amok! Amok! Amok!" foaming sugar scrub [Caramel corn, buttercream, red apples] Caramel corn is the top note in this one for me. It's not my favorite scent but I am excited to try the product.

"Bubble Bubble I'm In Trouble" bath bomb [limoncello, sour candy] First off, I LOVE the witch hat shape. Secondly, it smells like 7-Up, which I'm a fan of. Super cute.

"Salem" Deodorant [Cotton candy, cucumber, cantaloupe] This is a very muted, light scent. The cantaloupe is what I smell first, followed by a light tough of cucumber. It took a bit for me to pick up on any scent from this one.

"Master" Exfoliating Body Wash [Raspberries, pineapple, watermelon, cotton candy, flowers] This scent is very complex but I think what I pick up on most is the flowers and raspberry...but it has a hint of like a cardboard scent to me, like WI5OSW has the hint of plastic. Maybe it's just me lol.

To sum it all up, Fortune Cookie Soap knocked it out of the park with this collection. We have been asking for it for years and they definitely did it justice. I noticed a trend of bubble gum and cotton candy is collection, so if you are a candy scent lover-be prepared to fall in love!

Fortune Cookie Soap Halloween Teasers

Hey guys! If you tuned into the Fortune Cookie Soap fall launch video, you may have noticed quite a few subtle hints from Shannon (Our FCS queen!) about the upcoming Halloween box and a collection! I've carefully re-watched the video to bring all those teasers to you.

(1:13:01) Shannon mentions they saw the poll on the Fortune Cookie Soap fan group asking which "discontinued" products we wanted brought back, in which wax tarts were the top vote. She says they did not see that in time for the fall collection, but there is no problem with them.

(1:13:39) In the video stream, Alyssa B. comments "Chat about wax tarts, we want them back" to which Shannon replies "Alyssa you are going to be very happy...in Halloween-ish."

A charcoal cleansing oil was mentioned as well, I'm unsure where it will be introduced.

(1:16:30) A lot of people in the video stream comments ask for Halloween spoilers. Shannon holds up the product featured in the photo and mentioned liquid courage (described as "puffy clouds of cotton candy with sticky raspberries, pineapples, wild watermelon, wrapped in the soft embrace of night blooming flowers")is coming back in the Halloween box.

(1:16:45) Shannon says "So we're going to have the Halloween box, then a separate Halloween collection that is not the same as the box and that will be out the 23rd of September."

(2:00ish) The Halloween collection has 8 scents.

(2:04) There will be a pumpkin lovers collection that is a smaller version of last years "Basic Pumpkin"-all the best things. The bath bomb has changed into a mini bath bomb set, basic white pumpkin, as pictured. This collection will have 4 or 5 products.

(2:10:32) The fall collection will be re-stocked September 9th , another collection is launching with it and Shannon's hint was "Oh hair No." It appears to be an Oh Hair hair gift set, and I definitely saw dry shampoo in there.

(2:15:51)Winter Soap Box hints: Shannon mentions it is wintery and snowy. The product featured in the photo below is a whipped soap and she confirmed the winter theme is NOT Frozen or Game of Thrones.

(2:19:54) Someone asks if grab bags will be brought back and Shannon mentions "Get What You Get" is on the calendar but it depends on stock.

So to sum it all up...

  • Wax tarts will be back sometime during the Halloween season.
  • Liquid Courage will be back for the Hocus Pocus halloween box.
  • There will be a separate Halloween collection launching September 23rd.
  • There is also a Pumpkin collection coming up similar to "Basic Pumpkin" from last year.
  • An "Oh Hair" hair collection is coming.
  • The winter soap box is something wintery and snowy, and contains whipped soap.
I hope this has been helpful for those of you who weren't able to attend the launch or missed out on any of this during it. Anyone else counting down the days til Halloween? Just me...okay. *cough* 63 days *cough*

40 Beauty Questions Tag

How many times do you wash your face daily?
Usually just once, in the morning before I put my makeup on.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily or combination)
Combination, normal and oily. My "T zone" is oily and the rest of my face is normal.

What is your current facial wash?
I am NOT recommending that you all do this, but it is what I do...I use Fortune Cookie Soap "Foaming hand soap" on a cotton pad with no water. It removes my makeup and cleans up all the oil I may have. It works great for me.

Do you exfoliate?
No. My face is very sensitive to abrasion.

What brand do you use?
N/A.

What moisturizer do you use?
I don't use moisturizer. My skin is fairly oily on it's on.

Do you have freckles?
Yep! Especially across my cheeks and nose.

Do you use eye cream?
I have some, and I try to remember to use it, but I forget a lot.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Nope, never have.

Did you ever use ProActiv?
No, I haven't ever needed it.

What foundation do you use?
I use a few different ones. I have some lower quality ones for "every day" and some higher end ones for special occasions or if I want to look extra saucy. My every day foundation right now is "Maybelline Dream Wonder fluid touch foundation" in the shade 10 porcelain ivory. Dr Jart's BB cream is my special occasion foundation.

How about concealer?
Hard candy "Glam-o-flauge" in the shade ultra light.

Do you know your undertone colour?
I'd imagine it's pink.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like them. I wear them sometimes. I'd like to wear them more but it's not practical most days.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
I knew it was somewhere around there. Honestly I just use mine until I run out and need a new one though.

What brand of mascara do you use?
Covergirl "super-sizer" (I didn't realize so many of my current makeup products are drug store!)

Sephora or Mac?
Sephora, although I prefer to do my makeup shopping at home.

Do you have a MAC Pro-Card?
I'm not a fan of MAC. It seems over priced and over hyped to me.

What make-up tools do you use in make-up application?
I use a "Beauty Blender" from Shop Miss A for my foundation. These brushes I got from Amazon for most everything else.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
I just use my concealer for eye shadow primer.

For the face?
I don't use a primer for my face, I just prefer to use a setting spray afterwards (My two favorite are "Oil Control setting spray" from Icing and ELF makeup setting spray)

What is your favourite eye shadow? (Colour or Shade)
I don't really have one. 90% of the time I use a matte cream shade all over and a matte soft brown in my crease. I do like ColourPop "Lovely" for my lid for some extra glam though.

Do you use pencil or liquid eye-liner?
I use the liquid pens.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eye liner pencil?
I don't, since I use the liner pens.

What do you think of pigment eye shadows?
I don't use them, but I think they're pretty.

Do you use mineral make-up?
I don't currently, but I have. I used to use a Rimmel mineral foundation before it was discontinued.

What is your favorite lipstick?
ColourPop "Midi" ultra matte.

How about lip gloss?
Gross.

What is your favorite blush?
I LOVE ColourPop blushes, but right now my favorite is Seraphine Botanicals "Happy Hibiscus"

Do you buy make-up on e-bay?
I have a couple of times, but not often. Usually Amazon or direct from the brand itself.

Do you like drug store make-up?
Yep! While there are some makeups worth their high price, I don't believe high price makes a makeup any better. I have eye shadows that cost a dollar...setting spray that costs $3. You just have to try things and see what you like.

Do you go to CCO's? (Cosmetic Company Outlets)
I didn't know that was a thing.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I'd like to take one sometime to learn more about contouring and just general knowledge for fun.

Are you clumsy in putting on make-up?
No, I think I've got it pretty much figured out :)

Name a make-up crime that you hate?
When someone really cakes the makeup on...or overlined lips.

Do you like colorful shades of make-up (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral tones?
Neutral.

Which celebrity always has great make-up?
A specific person doesn't come to mind. I really like pin up/classic makeup style however.

If you could leave the house with just ONE Make-up item, what would you use?
Foundation probably. Maybe Mascara.

Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?
Yeah, I'm a Mom of two. It happens often.

Do you think you look good even without any make-up on?
I don't think I look awful or anything...I just prefer my face with makeup.

In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?
The one I use the most products from is ColourPop (I like their shadows, blushes, and ultra matte lipsticks)...but I use a lot of different makeup companies.

What do you think of Make-up?
It's fun. I think it lets you be your best self and express your creativity.

Kleancolor Madly Matte lip gloss review

Kleancolor "Madly matte" lip gloss

Nudes & Darks collection

(Above images taken from the website I purchased the collection, Shop Miss A )

Shop Miss A describes the Madly Matte lipgloss by saying "Each of the 48 gorgeous shades of Madly Matte Lip Gloss provides rich color in a matte finish for all day wear without drying. It goes on as a highly pigmented liquid and dries to a smooth matte finish. Lips are colored in velvety perfection that lasts. So grab one... or 48 and go! You're off to a smooth start with Madly Matte Lip Gloss from Kleancolor."

While I find these at a decent quality for the price (about .83 cents per shade), the nudes are definitely more opaque than the darks. In the above swatch, I had to go over the darks twice, whereas I only did a single swatch on the nudes, however the darks are still more streaky even with the extra swatch.

Another issue I found with these is that they never fully dry down, and leave your lips feeling kind of sticky, but they are nearly impossible to remove. I think they'd be okay for occasional wear, but it's definitely not something I'd want to wear on my lips every day. I also wanted to point out these have sort of a funky scent...sort of like a chemically plastic cake smell.

I am glad to have these in my makeup collection. Most of these shades are something I don't own anything similar to, and even with the issues, it'll be fun to pop on a fun blue lippie one day, or maybe a Lime Crime "Cashmere" dupe for a fraction of the cost.
