ColourPop Birthday Boy

Hey fishies. I've been holding off for a little bit on posting this review because I intended it to be my last one for a week or two. Sad panda!

Friday I am having my tonsils removed after years and years of strep, tonsil stones, and basically every tonsil related issue you can image. I am very excited for the procedure to be done and over with, but I have heard nothing but horrid things about adult tonsillectomys so I don't think I'll be in my right mind to blog for a bit. So let's make this last one a good one!

Hey there Birthday Boy! ColourPop releases a limited edition shadow shade every year on their anniversary. Last year we received Birthday Girl, which was a beautiful rose gold. This year we got Birthday Boy, which is perhaps the fraternal twin of Birthday Girl. 

As you can see, the shades are similar but not identical. They are both in the shimmery gold family, but Birthday Girl is a rose gold whereas Birthday Boy would be more in the taupe gold family. I feel like the two are similar enough that if you missed out on Birthday Girl, you'll be content with receiving this year's version! They are both crazy pretty.

I'll see you all in about a week or two, depending on my recovery process and healing time. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will see you all as soon as I am able!

June Ipsy Sneak Peek

First off...is it just me or does the bag look straight out of the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"? haha. We only get a look at two possible items from this months bag:

• Urban Decay eyeshadow, offered in two shades. (Lounge: brick red with a green shift and Fireball:peach with a pink shift)  
• The Balm "Meet Matt Trimony" matte eye shadow in the shade "Matt Kumar" which appears to be a reddish brown color.

To be honest, I'm hoping none of these are in my bag. The "the Balm" samples are notoriously tiny (usually a dime will cover your entire sample) and none of the shades featured are really my thing. I've disliked every bag since I purchased my yearly subscription. Whoops. lol

 Here's hoping the other items offered are more my style...I mean really...a red eye shadow with a green shimmer?? Hello Christmas...5 months early.

Enough with this company and their microscopic samples already! This is the second product I've got from them and the amount of actual product you get could be covered by a dime. Also, I read that it doesn't plump your lips at all. [Use code Ipsy20 for 20% off]

As for the bag itself, although I'm not in love with the print or anything, I really like the way the bag is made with the button enclosure. I gave it three stars. Out of a possible 30 stars for this month's glam bag, I gave it 15. I'm really waiting for another Ipsy bag to blow me away.

Pale Princesses

Hey guys! I try not to post about things that don't work, but at the same time I want to always give you guys my honest opinion on products; so after much debating I decided to share my personal experience with my fellow pale princesses. The items we'll be reviewing today I've heard highly rated among others in the beauty community so I couldn't wait to try them for myself, considering "porcelain" shades are usually 1 or 2 shades too dark for me.

The products I'm talking about are Manic Panic's "Dreamtone" and StarGazer's white pressed powder. I spent about $15 on Amazon for the two products online. The day they were set to arrive in the mail, I waited to put on my makeup until they got here (which was 2pm) because I was just so excited to have something that would match my skin tone. It turned out to be a total bummer.

The foundation by itself is super thin, which was okay because I bought it with the intention of mixing it with my favorite foundation that is just a little bit too dark. It didn't mix well at all, and it just made a clumpy mess, which was even worse when applied. It was very patchy and uneven in application, and it felt like I was wearing stage makeup. I tried to apply the pressed powder over it, which just made things worse. It was thick and applied perhaps even more cakey than the foundation. This was the result within an hour of wear.

First of all, you guys better know I love you. This picture is super unflattering but I wanted to show you what I meant. As I hope you can tell...the color on my forehead is really patchy and cakey. It applied really thick under my eyes and didn't stay on my cheeks and nose well at all. Just a huge mess. I've had dollar foundations apply better and stay longer than these two.

So yeah...that's it for today guys. Stay away from these two disasters and save your money. Maybe one day makeup brands will realize us pale girls wear makeup too.

Just a quick post to share some "nailspiration" with my fishies! This is how I got my nails and toes done yesterday. AHHH...Fortune Cookie Soap Box review time! I can hardly make myself wait to get in the door to tear open the box and this one has most definitely been worth the wait!  The one we'll be reviewing today is Summer 2016, themed "Just Keep Swimming."  This subscription box retails for $19.99, shipping included, and comes with a $10 gift code. Unlike monthly subscription boxes, this one is sent out seasonally, and includes between 8-10 sample products that will be featured in their launch.

Shark Bait-Fortune Cookie Soap (oranges, vanilla ice cream, sandalwood, strawberry)
Two words. SO. GOOD. It's like a sophisticated creamsicle with a pop of fruitiness. You guys are going to die for this one. By the way, my fortune reads "Gimme some fin." Cute!

Lil' Blue-OCD Hand Sanitizer (Pear, apples, plum blossom, sandalwood, amber)
Lil' Blue is a very fresh smell that would be a great perfume oil. Sandalwood and amber are the top notes but you definitely get the hint of non-traditional fruitiness. 

INTERVENTION!-Whipped Cream (Coconut milk, pineapple, island breeze)
Intervention is by leaps and bounds my favorite scent of the box, and probably in my top 10 all time favorite FCS scents. It's like a coconut and pineapple milk shake. The product card jokes that "FCS products are for your skin, not your mouth" which is a good reminder because this absolutely smells good enough to eat!

Whale Talk-Perfume Oil (Strawberries, black currant, jasmine, grapefruit, avocado )
Grapefruit, jasmine, and black currant are the top notes in this scent to me. It's a very complex, heavy fragrance that smells expensive.  I'm sure will be a lot of people's favorite.

Jellyman-Don't Be Jelly Soap (Black cherry, watermelon, guava nectar, strawberry, key lime) All of the fragrances blend together so beautifully, I can't pick a headliner. All I can say is that it is fruity goodness!

Aqua Scum-Spray Lotion (lychee, apple, peach nectar)
While I don't exactly know what a lychee smells like, I assume that is the top note in this scent, followed by apple and little to no detectable peach nectar. The product is very moisturizing and the scent is very unique and pleasant to the nose.

Oooooooooh...Barracuda-Lip Gloss (cantaloupe, green honeydew, watermelon, lime, raw cane sugar )
I believe this is the first lip gloss we've received packaged this way and it is straight watermelon yumminess! The scent is a perfect choice for summer!

Fin. Noggin. Duuude.-Pedi-Bomb (Lemon fizzy pop, orchid, white chocolate)
My poor turtle didn't survive the trip :( but it's 7-up with a hint of white chocolate floating in the background. It shouldn't work but it so does.
