February Ipsy Sneak Peek

Hey cupcakes! It's that time again...let's take a look into what February Ipsy promises us.

It looks like the items featured are as follows:

  • IT cosmetics "bye bye under eye" anti-aging concealer
  • Trust Fund beauty nail polish
  • Mary Lou Manizer
  • Smashbox primer oil
  • Mr. Write (Now) eye liner
I'd love to try the IT cosmetics concealer and although I have received the Manizer before (and the sample is TINY-I mean like, a dime could cover the entire sample) I wouldn't mind getting it again. What are you hoping to see in your bag??

Maybelline "Dream Velvet" review

Hey cupcakes! I found another drug store product I just had to share with you guys. I'm sure I'm not alone in my never ending quest for the "perfect foundation," (especially since I am a member of the pale girls club) so when I heard good reviews on this one AND it's under $10-I had to try it.

Big surprise, the lightest shade is too dark for me, but it's not as bad as most drug store foundations are. I've learned a well placed "translucent" powder on top will usually lighten them up enough to pass for my porcelain skin color.

The formula however is the biggest sell for me. As you could guess from the name, it has a smooth velvety consistency and is so quick and easy to apply. I apply it with my beauty blender and no joke, it's on in less than a minute. Maybelline describes it as a "soft-matte hydrating foundation" and I think they got it just about right.

It's not cakey, but it's thick enough to cover up any dark spots/under eye circles/blemishes you may have. Seriously guys, next time you're out, pick up some of this foundation. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

The proof is in the pudding, as they say. There is me wearing shade "05-Warm Porcelain". Let me know if you have tried this foundation before and what you think, or if you go out and buy it after reading this blog. I love to hear from you guys!

January Ipsy Bag Review

January Ipsy Bag Review

  • Coastal Scents pearl shadow large angle brush [Appx $3] SOLD AS PART OF A SET
Normally I am always happy to get a makeup brush, but I don't think I'd have a use for this one. [Use code CROWNIPSY25 for 25% off any purchase]

  • Pixi mineral duo "Lavender Bloom" [$6] FULL SIZE
I'm not a fan of the brand, nor the shades I was sent. Bummer. [Use code IPSYJAN for 15% off]

  • The Balm Mr. Write (now) "Scott" [$17] FULL SIZE
Another one that's going in my trade stash. I believe the color is a burgundy plum. [Use code Ipsy20 for 20% off]

  • Peek Beauty brow powder "Expresso" [$5] SAMPLE
This is the one item I will use in my bag and it's by far the smallest sample I got. Geez, this month stinks. [Use code Ipsy15 for 15% off your purchase]

  • Lasting Smiles lip balm [$4.99]FULL SIZE
Another "meh" product. I already have a brand of lip balm I use and I'm not a fan of peppermint.

Total bag value: $38.99 (with $3 figured in for the bag, which is what they normally sell for.)
As I'm sure you noticed, I was not a fan of this month at all. They didn't even offer 5 things I wanted :/ Here's hoping next month is better. Was your Ipsy bag disappointing this month too? I love hearing from you guys! See you for next month's Ipsy bag review :) Also please let me know if you like that I've started adding promo codes for all the products I got. They are good for 2 weeks at least.

Top 10 Beauty Products of 2015

After making the list for my most loved beauty products of 2015, one theme kept presenting itself. The fact that DRUG STORE MAKEUP has taken over in my life. I switched from a $34 foundation to a drug store concealer. A high end mascara to a drug store one.  I began using a drug store powder. Let's face it guys, drug store products are really stepping up their game! Not one product from my 2015 favorite's is over $10. Let's dive right in cupcakes.

1. Dove dry shampoo. If you are a bi-weekly hair washer like me, you can't find a better product for your dollar. The product smells amazing, doesn't leave a white build up, and does the job for under $5!

2. Fortune Cookie Soap "Shower Oil". This one has actually been a life changer in my family. My daughter suffers from extreme dry skin and this has completely changed all that. You spray it on after your shower and it absorbs into your skin and leaves your skin hydrated and you smelling great!

3. Colour Pop Ultra Mattes. This is going to be weird coming from a beauty blogger, but here it goes...I hate lipsticks. I almost always wear tinted balms...but this product has finally gave me a lip stick I can wear. It dries completely matte and is "kiss proof." (And only $6!)

4. Colour Pop shadows. I don't think any amount of money could buy more beautiful, pigmented eye shadow but the fact that these sell for $5 definitely doesn't hurt! I don't wear anything else.

5. Wet hair brush. Another life changer in my house. My daughter has extraordinarily thick hair but is extremely tender headed. A little pricey at $10, but if you or someone in your house is tender headed, I can't recommend this enough.

6. Hard Candy "Glamoflauge" concealer. My holy grail face product! I'm in the pale girl club and never could find anything light enough. My previous foundation was $34 and this is under $10 and I like it as much if not more.

7. Cover Girl "The Super Sizer" mascara. Here's another drug store product that blew me away and saved me a lot of money from the high end I was using. Previously I was using Tarte's lights camera lashes. My Mom gave me the Cover Girl mascara she had got in a sub box, and I LOVE it. I believe it retails for $7.

8. Model Co highlighter trio. I got this one in my Ipsy and it's become a product I use every day. It gives you that POP and it's very user friendly and convenient.

9. Wet N Wild Coverall powder. To be honest, it's not the best powder I've ever used but it comes in a shade light enough for me (shade "Fair") and it's under $4! It's a great product for the price and a saviour for us pale girls.

10. E.L.F Makeup mist & set spray. Another cheapie but goodie! $3 and leaves your skin feeling smooth and fresh, and your make up on. Highly recommend it.

Feel free to share your favorites in the comments below and don't forget to follow for the great beauty posts of 2016! Happy New Years, cupcakes. Thanks for making this year a great one.

Happy hump day cupcakes! DAY THREE (December 16th) is here! And it is.....*drum roll please*

Day three brings us what is probably Fortune Cookie Soap's best selling product-their "whipped cream" (which is a thicker, luxurious lotion.) The scent is "Halloween town." This is a very cute scent for Halloween town, because it smells as if you stuck your head in a trick or treat bag at the end of Halloween. It's very sweet and the bubble gum is the top note.
