Kleancolor Madly Matte lip gloss review

Kleancolor "Madly matte" lip gloss

Nudes & Darks collection

(Above images taken from the website I purchased the collection, Shop Miss A )

Shop Miss A describes the Madly Matte lipgloss by saying "Each of the 48 gorgeous shades of Madly Matte Lip Gloss provides rich color in a matte finish for all day wear without drying. It goes on as a highly pigmented liquid and dries to a smooth matte finish. Lips are colored in velvety perfection that lasts. So grab one... or 48 and go! You're off to a smooth start with Madly Matte Lip Gloss from Kleancolor."

While I find these at a decent quality for the price (about .83 cents per shade), the nudes are definitely more opaque than the darks. In the above swatch, I had to go over the darks twice, whereas I only did a single swatch on the nudes, however the darks are still more streaky even with the extra swatch.

Another issue I found with these is that they never fully dry down, and leave your lips feeling kind of sticky, but they are nearly impossible to remove. I think they'd be okay for occasional wear, but it's definitely not something I'd want to wear on my lips every day. I also wanted to point out these have sort of a funky scent...sort of like a chemically plastic cake smell.

I am glad to have these in my makeup collection. Most of these shades are something I don't own anything similar to, and even with the issues, it'll be fun to pop on a fun blue lippie one day, or maybe a Lime Crime "Cashmere" dupe for a fraction of the cost.

Fortune Cookie Soap Fall 2016 box

"As You Wish"

Princess Bride you guys!! Let's jump right in because I'm sure you guys are just as excited to find out about this box as I am.

DROP. YOUR. SWORD-Fortune Cookie Soap (Honey, apple mead)
It's a really nice, refreshing apple cider-ish scent and VERY glittery. Fruit scent lovers, here's looking at you.

Prepare To Die-OCD Hand Sanitizer (Cookie dough, clove, saffron)
Brittany, this one is for you! This one is a real nice fall bakery scent. It's probably one of my favorites in the box. The spice and cookie scent are really well balanced.

Mostly Dead-Whipped Cream (Golden honey, almonds, pumpkin puree, amber)
Pumpkin lovers, you are going to go crazy about this one. It is a mild pumpkin scent that smells good enough to eat! I want my whole house to smell like this.

Inconceivable!-Perfume Oil (Fall woods, black amber, pears, whipped vanilla cream )
I just don't have enough good things to say about this box. Even though this scent doesn't have any pecans, it smells like pecan praline to me.

Mawiage-Scented cotton ball (Pound cake, cardamom, pistachio, rosewater, buttercream) l can't smell this one very well on the cotton ball, but the scent description sounds yummy.

Pit of Despair-Steam Me Up Scotty (Patchouli, lemongrass, plumeria)
While I don't find this scent very autumnish, it does smell amazing. It's heavy on the lemongrass and plumeria and would be a great shower steamer or linen spray. Or you know...all the things.

Buttercup-Shampoo (Candied rum, fig, bergamot, vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla musk )
This is the one scent of the box I'm not crazy about...I get black licorice from it.

True Love-Facial Cleansing Oil (Citrus, jasmine, sea salt)
This was a perfect product choice for this scent, in my opinion. It smells like a high end beauty product should smell. It would also be a good air spray or linen spray.

Knight Cream-Facial Cleaning Oil (Unscented)
It has no scent so I can't describe that for you, but it is very moisturizing. I think I'll definitely be buying some in a full size.

If you subscribe to this box, comment and tell me which scent was your favorite! Inconceivable (perfume oil) and Mostly Dead (whipped cream) are the scents I love the most, but the collections scents as a whole are so cohesive.

Unfortunately this soap box is sold out, as Fortune Cookie Soap is such a fast growing business; however if any of those scents sound like something you would enjoy, visit their website-FortuneCookieSoap.com on Friday, August 26th at 6pm CST for the launch of this collection.

Life Update

Hey fishies! You have no idea how much I have missed all of you. Life has been so hectic lately.

The last blog post I made I told you guys I was about to have my tonsils out. That happened, and it was dreadful. I had to be taken to the emergency room via ambulance because my throat started bleeding like a scene from a horror movie. That happened a couple more times, but I was able to stop it without having to go to the ER. The pain didn't let up until almost a month post surgery.

Within two weeks of my tonsillectomy, my youngest daughter had to have surgery and was life-flighted to a childrens hospital due to complications. As you can imagine, that hurt my heart and occupied a lot of my time. Once she was released from the hospital, we took a trip to the beach to relax after everything that had gone on.

The night we were heading home, I got a call about a family emergency that has since only got worse. Life has been hectic but I am ready to get back to my normal routine. I thank you all so much for your patience in my getting back to the swing of things. Keep an eye out...I'll be bringing back an old favorite, a freebie post!

ColourPop Birthday Boy

Hey fishies. I've been holding off for a little bit on posting this review because I intended it to be my last one for a week or two. Sad panda!

Friday I am having my tonsils removed after years and years of strep, tonsil stones, and basically every tonsil related issue you can image. I am very excited for the procedure to be done and over with, but I have heard nothing but horrid things about adult tonsillectomys so I don't think I'll be in my right mind to blog for a bit. So let's make this last one a good one!

Hey there Birthday Boy! ColourPop releases a limited edition shadow shade every year on their anniversary. Last year we received Birthday Girl, which was a beautiful rose gold. This year we got Birthday Boy, which is perhaps the fraternal twin of Birthday Girl.

As you can see, the shades are similar but not identical. They are both in the shimmery gold family, but Birthday Girl is a rose gold whereas Birthday Boy would be more in the taupe gold family. I feel like the two are similar enough that if you missed out on Birthday Girl, you'll be content with receiving this year's version! They are both crazy pretty.

I'll see you all in about a week or two, depending on my recovery process and healing time. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will see you all as soon as I am able!

June Ipsy Sneak Peek

First off...is it just me or does the bag look straight out of the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"? haha. We only get a look at two possible items from this months bag:
  • Urban Decay eyeshadow, offered in two shades. (Lounge: brick red with a green shift and Fireball:peach with a pink shift)
  • The Balm "Meet Matt Trimony" matte eye shadow in the shade "Matt Kumar" which appears to be a reddish brown color.
To be honest, I'm hoping none of these are in my bag. The "the Balm" samples are notoriously tiny (usually a dime will cover your entire sample) and none of the shades featured are really my thing. I've disliked every bag since I purchased my yearly subscription. Whoops. lol

Here's hoping the other items offered are more my style...I mean really...a red eye shadow with a green shimmer?? Hello Christmas...5 months early.

Get it together Ipsy!

May Ipsy Review

May Ipsy Review

  • Epice hydrating mask  [$12.50] FULL SIZE 1*
Hey Ipsy, thanks for sending me, a person who has marked "oily skin," a hydrating mask. Really. [Use code Ipsy16 for 30% off any online purchase]

  • SLMissGlam small contour brush [Appx $13] PART OF A SET 5*
This brush seems to be very good in quality, and the purpose of the brush (contouring) is very modern and usable for most Ipsy users. I'm pretty happy to have received this one. [Use code SLIPSY25 for 25% off any purchase]

  • Smashbox X-Rated Mascara [Appx $7.33] SAMPLE 4*
I've heard nothing but good reviews out of this mascara. I won't use mine yet because I just opened a new mascara, but I can't wait to try it. Smashbox is a great brand and I've heard the mascara doesn't clump and stays on really well. [Use code Ipsy15 for 15% off your first purchase]

  • Neutrogena Moisturesmooth color stick "Almond Nude" [Appx $2.32] SAMPLE 1*
Although I normally like nude lippies, this one looks more like the shade of a contour stick. I don't think I'll get much use out of it. [Use code Ipsy for 20% off this product only]

  • Peek beauty lip plumping balm [Appx $4] SAMPLE 1*
Enough with this company and their microscopic samples already! This is the second product I've got from them and the amount of actual product you get could be covered by a dime. Also, I read that it doesn't plump your lips at all. [Use code Ipsy20 for 20% off]

As for the bag itself, although I'm not in love with the print or anything, I really like the way the bag is made with the button enclosure. I gave it three stars. Out of a possible 30 stars for this month's glam bag, I gave it 15. I'm really waiting for another Ipsy bag to blow me away.

15/30

Total bag value: $42.15 (with $3 figured in for the bag, which is what they normally sell for.)

I'm really waiting for another Ipsy bag to blow me away. I think from now on, unless anyone objects, I'm only going to review the Ipsy bags I like. Reviewing these ones I don't like is a bummer for me and it's becoming quite a chore. What was your favorite thing in your Ipsy this month?
